Google Earth to Revit ConversionCase Studies
The Client wanted as built Revit model of a 10 Acre Institutional Campus with Exterior Model of 7 buildings, Walkways, landscape and topography. A Revit Model showing Building Facade, Landscape, Walkways and Bridges in the campus had to be built using Google Earth as well as Photographs.
Unfortunately, virtually no drawings existed and the few that were available were a few plans only of some floors and no sections or elevations were available. However, a topographic Survey was available. The Client provided a lot of photographs and along with Google Earth Location. The Site had many interconnected buildings as well as covered walkways. The challenge was to get accurate dimensional as well as material information from Google Earth Street Views as well as the photographs.
Strategy & Approach
Since .many Parts of the Buildings & Site were unclear and no image or information was clearly visible or available. BimSrv’s Team used strong Architectural understanding of US Construction & Architectural styles to interpret the building & Site forms accurately. BimSrv’s team not only utilized all the inputs sent by the Client, but developed sketches and details to help interpret the missing information.
